There are six levels of training on MetaStock and the new FXTA plug-in being offered (scroll down to the end of this page for more detailed description of each training level).  All classes are presented online, saving you travel time and expense, and will be archived for registered students to review online! 

Level 1) 
If you'd like a complete overview of the many capabilities of MetaStock and see why it has been voted the best charting and analysis package for 13 years in a row, begin with the NO COST MetaStock introductory training (see details below).  There are several modules of training available, check them out!  And there is also the famous MetaStock support staff for live help - but please use them well - watch the online training first so they're available for more unusual questions!  

Level 2) 
"Forex Only" traders can begin here right after installing MetaStock.  Special Forex oriented introductory training sessions were done in the MetaStock online training room on Nov. 9th & 10th.  They are now archived on the Forex-Phoenix.org website (and soon on the ForexTradersAdvantage.com website).  Registered members of either website can view that archived training at any time! 

FXTA Specific Training:

Levels 3-6) 
Continue on with training specific to the FXTA plug-in.  The lower level FXTA training classes are a pre-requisite for each higher level of FXTA training.

Level 3) FXTA Training begins with a NO COST FXTA Introductory Training.  These are being held in the Forex-Phoenix.org online room beginning Wed Nov 16, and will be archived for on-demand viewing.  Check their online calendar for dates, times, and other details.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FXTA is a great tool, but as with any tool, you have to know how to use it or it will do you no good, and might even hurt you if you misuse it.  Because FXTA can produce astonishing results when used properly, we strongly suggest the following training:

 

1)    MetaStock Basic Training – more fun than Army boot camp, and a whole lot more easy and convenient!  LOL!  MetaStock is a powerful and exciting tool in and of itself, and you have to know the basics of MetaStock to be able to use FXTA at all.  So make sure you use the NO COST MetaStock training and live support available from their great support staff! 

MetaStock Intro Training - online Training, please see the details below in Appendix-A

2)   FXTA Basic Training – your excitement will build even more as you learn how simple it is to start finding potential trade entries and exits, displayed as green arrows and red arrows - we know you already know which is which, but there are several “tips and tricks” we can tell you to help you along your way to discovering how quickly FXTA can become YOUR best “traders advantage!”

3)     FXTA Intermediate Training – After you’ve become familiar with the first simple uses of FXTA, take this guided tour of several of the most popular additional information available within the FXTA charts and related displays.

How to Access Online
Trainings and Meetings

 

Details are below. Here is an outline of the three parts:

Open your web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, etc.). Note for AOL users - it is better to use one of the more standard browsers instead of AOL's browser.

RIGHT click on the following link and select "Open in a new Window"): http://www.hotcomm.com/ftppub/hclsetupr.exe
And then Click “GO”.

IF YOU ARE NOT READING THESE DIRECTIONS ONLINE:
THEN, In your web browser's address bar type or copy and paste the above link, and click "GO".

When the File Download window appears choose “OPEN” or "RUN" (NOT Save).

After the file has downloaded a ReadMe and Terms of Service window will appear. CLICK “I ACCEPT”.

A window that says “Add Relay/Room Icon to your desktop” will appear, answer “Yes”.

A Room Connection Setup window will appear, enter the underlined text:


• Relay Server: Relay4

• Room: Phoenix4x
  Then click the “Add” button

A new “Add Relay/Room Icon to your desktop” will appear now, click “DONE”.

When the Installation Complete window appears – choose “FINISH”.

A window will now ask for “Your Conference Identity”. Enter the name you used when registering on the website. It is best to use the first name and last initial of the name that was used on your order form with Equis/MetaStock for the FXTA plug-in. Some meetings may require a match between FXTA licensed user names and the names of those attending the meeting. For this same reason, the email address you give during registration on ForexTradersAdvantage.com should be the same as the current email on file for you with Equis/MetaStock. Please remember to keep your email address current with us and with Equis/MetaStock. And make sure that emails from ForexTradersAdvantage.com and Equis.com and Reuters.com can get through your (and your ISP's) spam filters.

Then CLICK “OK”.

A message panel will appear asking you to wait until you are connected to the 1stWorks Network. This is usually only a few seconds, but can take 30 to 60 seconds, particularly the first time, or after a system reboot. If the hotComm software can connect , you will also see a small red and blue headset icon added to the tool bar at the lower right corner of your display (near the system clock).

Some firewall software may have to be reconfigured or temporarily turned off (such as Zone Alarm) to allow hotComm to connect, and then turn your firewall software back on.

If the headset icon remains white instead of turning red and blue, contact 1stWorks Support at www.hotcomm.com/support.asp or by email at support@1stworks.com

Step 11

There will be a four new icons on your desktop from the hotComm Installation.

1) hotComm CL - A shortcut icon to start the hotComm program. You must start hotComm on your computer system BEFORE you click the link on our website to access our online forex traders room.
The icon is a little multi-colored square with red and blue dots for headphones, a yellow "CL" and text under the icon saying "hotComm CL"

2) "Connect to Phoenix4X..." ("Phoenix4X is the name of our online traders room). THIS ICON IS SELDOM USED, BUT KEEP IT for when it might be needed! It is a little multi-colored square with a red and blue pair of headphones, and the easy to read text under the icon saying "Connect to Phoenix4X" ("Phoenix4X is the name of our online traders room). Click this icon to enter our room with a special presenter password or for other special purposes.

3) T'SCRIPTS - A shortcut to the folder where hotComm stores the text chat transcripts If you'd like to review a text chat later, this is where you can find it.

4) UPLOADS - A shortcut to the folder where hotComm stores the still camera images that are displayed during an online session in our online traders room. If you'd like to look at still camera images (charts, for example) after a session has ended, you can find them in here.

Step 12A: FXTA (Forex Traders Advantage) no cost trial users may access the no cost FXTA online training through www.ForexTradersAdvantage.com You must be registered there (it is at no cost!), so do it now - just click the link and register. Then login there and test your access to the online training/trading room by clicking on the link or button that reads, "Click Here To Access the Forex-Phoenix Online Room". If you see a message reading:

The Forex-Phoenix.org online room will be available at NO COST for FXTA trial and paid customers during certain special no cost events. During and preceding those events, there will be a message after you login to the FXTA website that reads:
"Forex-Phoenix Online Traders Room (hotComm) is Open!"

If the "room status" line reads:
"Hotcomm Room is Closed!"
then there is NOT PRESENTLY no cost access from the FXTA website. As always, it is open 24 hours per day for traders in the 24 hour Forex market who are members of Forex-Phoenix. Try the no cost trial membership, and subscribe as hundreds of others have done if you find it helpful to your trading. The motto for that online community of Forex Traders is, "To better trading!"

Step 12B: Forex-Phoenix.org registered trial or paid members of www.Forex-Phoenix.org can access our online Forex traders room through either of two methods:

1) Regular Open Session - See the summary and the detailed access instructions on our website by logging in to the Members area ("My Login" on the left side of our homepage), and then click on "Online Room" in the "Member Menu." For regular daily access to the open sessions in our online forex traders room, FIRST start hotComm running on your computer system by double clicking on the plain "hotComm CL" icon on your desktop (a little multi-colored square with red and blue dots for headphones and the letters "CL" (a logo for the CL product from hotComm). Once hotComm is running and connected to the hotComm servers (the hotComm icon by your system clock shows red and blue headphones, not white), then login to the members area of our website, go to the "Online Room" area, and click on the "Access" link there.

2) Special Closed Session or Presenter - Double click on the "Connect to Phoenix4X" icon ("Phoenix4X is the hotComm name for our online traders room) on your desktop when you want to start the hotComm software and connect to a Phoenix4x meeting. It is usually very fast, but it may take as much as 30 to 60 seconds for the hotComm software to start-up and connect to the hotComm servers. After the hotComm software window opens up on your desktop, it will play a "phone ringing" sound to alert you, and you must enter a special session password to enter our Phoenix4X online traders room. The password will be provided to you as part of a separate registration process required for the various special closed sessions in our online room. To enter the password, click in the password input box, even though it may look like your cursor is already there.

Troubles?

Most people have no trouble with the above instructions, and are in the Forex-Phoenix online room in a few minutes. If you do have trouble getting the hotComm software running or getting into the online room, please recheck that you followed the instructions above, and check with hotComm support ( www.hotcomm.com/support.asp or phone 508-877-0446). HotComm does have several test rooms available all the time, and a good support staff available through their website from 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Please check with hotComm support first. If hotComm support can not help you, please contact the website through the Contact button on the homepage.

Step 13 (you know that's a lucky number, right?)

Join us in the online room! If there is no active presenter in the room, you won't see or hear any content other than whatever is in the text transcript window. You can check our schedule on our website (click the calendar icon in the left border of our homepage), and special events for the current day are usually listed at the bottom of the room "Welcome" message that displays in the text transcript window each time you enter our online room. See you there!

SUMMARY TO ACCESS ONLINE ROOM:

REMEMBER, you must first have hotComm running (and we strongly encourage you to install and use the no cost hotComm CL rather than the hotComm Java Client) BEFORE trying to access the online training room by either 1 or 2:

1) Login in to www.ForexTradersAdvantage.com (register your first time)

1A) Click on "Click Here To Access Online Room"
(available whenever you see "Forex-Phoenix Online Room is Open: ", which it will be for no cost for certain special no cost FXTA sessions.

or

2) Login to www.Forex-Phoenix.org (register your first time)

2A) clicking on "Online Room" and then the "Click Here To Access Phoenix4x Online Room".

If hotComm is running, you will have a small hotComm headset icon in the "Quick Launch" area of your task bar, usually in the lower right corner of your screen by your system clock. If the hotComm icon is not in the "Quick Launch" area, see below for how to start it. If the hotComm icon is there, but the dots are white instead of red and blue, try "exiting" it by RIGHT clicking on the hotComm icon by your system clock and selecting "Exit." Then WAIT 30 seconds before restarting the hotComm program running on your computer.

TO START HOTCOMM RUNNING, double click on the "hotComm CL" icon on your desktop (NOT the "Connect to Phoenix4x..." icon).

It may take 30 to 60 seconds for hotComm to start-up and connect over the Internet to the hotComm servers. The hotComm icon (a small graphic of a pair of headphones) will first show white headphones, and then a red and blue colored set of headphones when hotComm has connected to the hotComm servers.

If the hotComm icon in the "Quick Launch" area does NOT go from white to red and blue after 60 seconds, please contact hotComm support through their website at www.hotcomm.com or by phone at 508-877-0446.
